Party for Molesey soldier injured in Afghanistan

Molesey resident Chris Howard who lost a leg and three fingers while on duty in Afghanistan

A PARTY night is being held on Saturday, February 6 to raise money for Molesey soldier Chris Howard, who was badly injured while on duty in Afghanistan.

Being held at the Metropolitan Police sports club, in Imber Court, East Molesey, the night has been organised to help Chris, 21, with his rehabilitation.

In August, six weeks away from finishing his six month tour of duty, Chris stepped on a pressure pad while performing a routine search of a building near Sangin, in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.

Unfortunately Chris lost his right arm and three fingers in the blast. He was immediately flown to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham where he underwent extensive surgery and is now going through a tough rehabilitation process.

Since then the Molesey community have grouped together to raise money for Chris for when he comes home.

The party night, which starts at 8 will feature a disco, an auction and a raffle. Tickets cost £20 and are available by emailing Lorraine.clements@cool2care.co.uk
