Police have arrested a man in connection with a hit and run incident in Woking which left a 24-year-old man dead.
Luke Millican, of Hermitage Woods Crescent, St John's, was on foot when he was struck by a vehicle in Hermitage Road, outside The Surrey pub, at 11.55pm, on Friday January 30.
The vehicle did not stop and the former Winston Churchill School pupil later died from his injuries at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
Following a police appeal on the radio, a listener called and a 22 year old man from Woking has been arrested and a car recovered.
The man has been bailed pending further enquiries and is due back at Woking Police Station on April 14.
Inspector Rick Lawn, from Surrey Police, said despite the arrest police still urgently need to trace and talk to witnesses.
Insp Lawn said: "We would like to speak to you if you saw a damaged car being driven or parked overnight since the time of the collision at 11:55pm. When you woke up this morning did you notice a damaged car parked nearby in your road?"
In his earlier appeal, he had said: "This is a tragedy which has left a family heartbroken and we are determined to establish what happened.
"I appeal now directly to the driver involved to come into any police station and tell me what happened. I am sure this is not something that anyone would wish to have on their conscience for the rest of their life.
"Also, in addition to witnesses, I would be keen to hear from any person who has become aware of a vehicle which has been damaged overnight. This vehicle may be parked in a street somewhere and it may be taken to a vehicle repairer.
"If you think you may be able to identify the vehicle please let me know. We owe it to the family of this young man whose life was ended so tragically."
Anyone with information is asked to call the Collision Investigation Unit on 01483 639922.
