St Peter's Hospital goes green and chemical-free

ST PETER'S Hospital in Chertsey is trialling a chemical-free cleaning regime.

Over the next few weeks, patients on Elm Ward at the Guildford Road hospital will see the housekeeping team use more environmentallyfriendly equipment, which is also proven to be more effective at fighting bugs than chemical methods.

High-pressure water-only steam cleaners and oxygen-run fogging machines will be trundling the wards.

William Britton, head of hotel services, said: "We are delighted to be involved in such an unusual and exciting trial and are confident it will be a success.

"We are using cutting-edge equipment and trying to make sure our chemical-free approach covers all aspects of cleaning."

The trial will be monitored via hand held machines to test for microbes.
