Spelthorne's 'oldest resident' turns 108

Maud Ellis – believed to be Spelthorne's oldest resident – celebrates her 108th birthday
MAUD Ellis – believed to be Spelthorne's oldest resident – celebrated her 108th birthday with friends, family and staff at Sunbury Nursing Home.
One Monday (September 28) Mrs Ellis enjoyed tea and cake with nephew Gordon Cockill, who visits her by bus every week, and opened her eighth congratulatory birthday card from the Queen.
She has lived at the home, in Thames Street, since August 2001, and manager Chris White reported she had enjoyed her day.
Mr White said: "Although very frail, everyone at the nursing home helped her to celebrate her milestone and she seemed to enjoy herself."
