Police name 'body in the Thames' man

Police have named a man who died after his body was pulled from the Thames at Walton as 55-year-old Anthony Heffernan.
He is an Irish national who had been living in Walton prior to Monday December 28, when a member of the public saw him in the river off Felix Road and called the emergency services.
He was pulled out at 6.42pm by two police resuscitation attempts were made at the scene and later St Peter's Hospital, Chertsey, but Mr Heffernan was pronounced dead at just after 9pm.
Police confirmed on Tuesday that a woman in her 30s from Walton has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is now on bail until March 10, 2010.
Tests are being carried out to determine an cause of death, and anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Surrey Police on 0845 125 2222 quoting reference number EL/09/10518.
