Blaze gutted van 'in seconds'
A van caught fire on Eastworth Road outside the Surrey Herald's Chertsey offices on Wednesday night, bringing traffic to a standstill.
Firefighters were soon on the scene and extinguished the blazing vehicle before it could spread to nearby homes.
The driver was uninjured
Witnesses said they heard a loud 'bang' - like a tyre exploding - and within seconds the entire vehicle was ‘engulfed in a wall of flames’.
The driver managed to park the van on the pavement before leaping out.
No other cars were affected.
