AFC Wimbledon through to Senior Cup semis after win at Harrow Borough

Harrow Borough 2-3 AFC Wimbledon

CHARLIE Clark-Gleave came to AFC Wimbledon's rescue with the winner that sent them into the semi-finals of the London Senior Cup last night.

Twice the Dons, largely made up of reserve team players, were pegged by plucky Harrow but Clark-Gleave ensured they had the last word with a bullet header that flew past Borough keeper Keita Karamoko for the 83rd minute winner.

Featuring just four senior squad members – Seb Brown, skipper Kennedy Adjei, Ricky Wellard and Elliott Godfrey – the Dons started brightly at Earlsmead and took a 22nd minute lead through Matt Harmsworth's precision header, which owed much to Godfrey's whipped delivery from the right.

However, Harrow, who were also fielding a mix of reserve and fringe players, were level a minute later when Andrew Harewood was allowed too much space to pull the trigger from 22 yards.

The tireless Harmsworth regained the lead for the visitors eight minutes later after ghosting in around the back of the defence before confidently poking the ball past Keita Karamoko.

Harrow kept their composure, however, and Harewood squared things with ten minutes to go, dancing through several challenges before dinking the ball over a helpless Brown from five yards.

The response from the Dons was magnificent as they pinned Harrow in their own half for the remaining minutes. Their patience was rewarded when Clark-Gleave stooped to head home a corner at the near post.

They will host the semi-final against either Croydon Athletic or Fisher.
