AFC Wimbledon snap up trio

TERRY Brown has bolstered his squad with the signings of Ed Harris, Fraser Franks and Delano Sam-Yorke.

We exclusively revealed this week that the AFC Wimbledon boss was set to offer deals to the defensive duo, while he was also keen on keeping former Woking striker Sam-Yorke at Kingsmeadow.

But Brown was only given the green light to sign the trio after Steven Gregory got the all clear from scan results on his knee, meaning he didn't need to bring in a replacement.

Gregory's good news, coupled with the injection of some cash from the Premier League, meant Brown could complete deals for all three of the young stars.

He said: "Although my budget was complete, the opportunity to sign three very talented young players into our squad was one that I felt would benefit the club both short term and, hopefully, long term.

"The two young centre-halfs offer us great cover for Brett [Johnson] and Ismail [Yakubu] and, judging by last year, they will both see plenty of action.

"Up front, Delano offers us both cover for Danny Kedwell and he can also play either side of a central striker.

"He is a tall, strong and quick front runner who should develop quickly with full time training."
