Chertsey only 100 per centers

COMBINED COUNTIES PREMIER DIVISION Bedfont..............2 Chertsey...............4

CHERTSEY Town sit proudly on the top of the table following four successive victories in which they have already amassed 18 goals.

They are the only team left with a 100 per cent record, with Banstead now in second spot, two points behind.

Town were on top from the start at Bedfont on Monday, and within six minutes John Pomroy played a neat one-two with Leon Johnson for a simple finish.

Just four minutes later, Johnson turned from supplier to executioner as he collected a cross from Darren Dobbinson to curl his shot past the keeper.

It was virtually all over on the half hour, when Luke Muldowney and Dobbinson combined to set up the chance for Pomroy to score his second with a well-placed shot.

In the second half Bedfont made more of a scrap of it in every sense and they pulled it back to 3-2 with two penalties. The first was for a trip from behind and the second a rather harsh handball decision against Steve Gibson.

Chertsey still had the last word, with Leon Johnson scoring with a clever 20-yard lob over the keeper.

* JOHN POMROY's late winner had earned Chertsey all three points on Saturday too, as they beat North Greenford.

Town went ahead after 32 minutes through a Pomroy spot-kick but conceded an equaliser before the break.

A rasping 35-yard screamer from Leon Johnson put Chertsey in front again, but again they let the visitors back.

But they finally sealed the win with six minutes left when Ryan Gray cut the ball
